FinDatEx has published Version 8 of the Solvency II Tripartite Template (TPT), following its public consultation between July and September 2026 and approval by the FinDatEx Steering Group.

Compared with the consultation draft, the final version retains some fields initially proposed for deletion while introducing new reporting requirements and more stringent issuer identification rules.

Key Changes Compared with V7

Fewer fields discontinued than initially proposed

The July 2026 consultation proposed removing around 20 data points. In the final version, 18 fields are no longer maintained by FinDatEx. They remain in the template for technical reasons but are not to be validated.

Notably, fields 127 and 128, covering convertible bond floor and option premium, were retained as optional fields despite having been proposed for deletion.

Two new reporting fields

Fields 150 (LTEI_Fund_Eligibility) and 151 (Legislative_program_investment) have been added to support the revised Solvency II treatment of qualifying long-term equity investments and investments under legislative programmes.

Mandatory issuer identification

Issuer and issuer-group identification fields become mandatory, following a defined hierarchy: LEI, external identifier and internal identifier. Code 9 also changes meaning: it now represents an internal identifier rather than the absence of an identifier, as in V7. Existing data mappings will need to be updated.

Revised classifications and definitions

Other changes include a more granular securitisation classification (senior non-STS, junior non-STS and other), an updated NACE classification and revised requirements for the conversion-factor field, which is now restricted to convertible bonds.

Implementation Timeline

December 2026 production should continue using V7. Both versions can be used in parallel during January and February 2027, with V8 becoming mandatory for end-March 2027 production.

How We Support TPT Reporting

For asset managers, template changes can mean considerable work across data sourcing, reporting systems and client delivery.

SolvencyAnalytics provides a fully managed TPT reporting service, combining automated production, data sourcing, validation and secure dissemination. Additional capabilities include SCR calculations, complex derivatives and fund-of-funds look-through.

Through active participation in the FinDatEx Solvency II Working Group, we closely monitor regulatory developments and help clients adapt to changing reporting requirements without having to maintain the entire process in-house.

The final TPT V8 template and technical implementation note are available on the FinDatEx website.
